Colonel Hughes served with great distinction as an attorney in the U.S. Army JAG Corps, most notably participating in the Dachau War Crimes Trials in Germany following World War II. His exemplary service extended beyond Germany to Korea and various Army posts throughout the United States, providing a sterling role model for his son.

     

    Pat Hughes excelled academically from a young age, graduating with honors from Anniston High School. He then pursued higher education at the University of Alabama, where he was an active member of his fraternity, holding an officer position that showcased his leadership skills. His academic excellence did not go unnoticed, as he was inducted into the Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society. In 1975, Pat Hughes earned his undergraduate degree and was subsequently admitted to the University of Alabama School of Law. He continued to demonstrate his dedication and capability by graduating with his law degree in 1978. During his final year of law school, his commitment to helping others was recognized as he was selected to serve as a student advisor.

     

    After earning his law degree, Pat Hughes returned to his roots in Anniston to embark on his dream of practicing law as a small-town attorney.
